Four priorities
One founding year
Public accountability

Gun Safety First is in its founding phase. This page is our public commitment to the work we will do in our first year of operations, and the milestones we will publish progress against. It is also where donors and partners can see exactly what their support will build.

Year One

Our first year

Four priorities will guide the foundation phase of our work.

1

Build the technology

The first version of our prevention technology will be developed and piloted in partnership with a small number of community organizations, schools, or healthcare systems. Real-world deployment from day one is our standard. The technology will be co-designed with the people who will use it, evaluated as we build it, and published openly.

2

Anchor the research

We will establish formal research partnerships with at least two academic institutions to evaluate what we build. Independent evaluation is non-negotiable. The field has been burned too many times by tools that look good in a brochure and fail in the real world. We hold ourselves to the same standard we hold others to.

3

Train the field

Technology only matters if it lands in the hands of people who can use it well. We will develop training programs for the educators, clinicians, and community workers using our tools, and we will offer those programs at no cost to our partners.

4

Publish openly

Our progress, methodology, and results will be public. So will our setbacks. The gun violence prevention field has too few organizations willing to publish what didn't work. We intend to be one of them.

Milestones

What success looks like

These are the outcomes we have committed to publicly. We will report against each one, including where we fall short.

Technology

First pilot of prevention tooling deployed with a real partner organisation, with evaluation underway.

Research

At least two formal academic research partnerships in place, with independent evaluation protocols agreed.

Training

Training curriculum developed and delivered to partner-organisation frontline staff at zero cost.

Publishing

Methodology, preliminary results, and at least one honest account of something that did not work, published publicly.

We will not revise our public commitments after the fact to match what we achieved. We will report what we said we would do, what we actually did, and what we are doing about the gap.

Transparency

Public commitments

Accountability is not a feature we add later. It is the foundation.

Annual report

A full account of the year's work: what we built, what we learned, what didn't land, and what comes next. Published every year without exception.

Audited financials

Independently audited financial statements, published annually. Every dollar of donor money accounted for.

Milestone tracking

Progress against the milestones on this page, including honest reporting on any gap between what we committed to and what we delivered.
